Does Mr. Rainbow address the fact that his parents left South Africa, the Rainbow Nation, as soon as the black majority took democratic power?

by Anonymousreply 1April 15, 2021 9:18 PM

Has the black majority done much for gays?

by Anonymousreply 2April 15, 2021 9:19 PM

He looks like an underfed rat.

by Anonymousreply 3April 15, 2021 9:20 PM

I don't maintain that it has - they do have same-sex marriage, the only country in Africa - but I find it interesting that he is quite preachy about his values even though he grew up in a family environment where he must have been aware that liberal beliefs sometimes come into conflict with harsh reality.

by Anonymousreply 5April 15, 2021 9:21 PM

[Quote] He seems special.

He was plucked from obscurity to play a young Hugh Jackman.

[Quote] he is quite preachy about his values even though he grew up in a family environment where he must have been aware that liberal beliefs sometimes come into conflict with harsh reality.

He didn't seem all that preach in that "Seventeen" song.

by Anonymousreply 7April 15, 2021 9:23 PM

Someone please study the link between homosexuality and autism.

by Anonymousreply 8April 15, 2021 9:29 PM

I love EVERYTHING about his house. Fabulous. Good to see him out and proud and not ashamed.

by Anonymousreply 9April 15, 2021 9:31 PM

I bet his twink bussy must be as sweet as Nicolas Fairford's!

by Anonymousreply 10April 15, 2021 9:41 PM

He ruined the house. What part is Victorian?

by Anonymousreply 11April 15, 2021 9:41 PM

I agree with R11, that house has lost all its character which is a shame.

Probably not him that ruined it though, I'd imagine he bought it like this. Blame some developer

He is super hot and sexy though! Not a fan of the house but he is beautiful, so pretty

by Anonymousreply 12April 15, 2021 10:34 PM

New single "You," with obligatory gal pal on shared vocals.

It's very nice, actually.

by Anonymousreply 14April 16, 2021 1:03 AM

I like him, warts and all. The house, meh. But swell digs for a young man.

by Anonymousreply 15April 16, 2021 1:20 AM

He has Marfan Syndrome. That's means inbreeding, doesn't it?

by Anonymousreply 16April 16, 2021 1:22 AM

Marfan? Not sure I believe him. He's short and looks normally proportioned.

by Anonymousreply 17April 16, 2021 1:26 AM

Great collection of lamps, really nice 20th century selection.

by Anonymousreply 19April 16, 2021 7:05 AM

I thought it was Marzipan Syndrome.

by Anonymousreply 20April 16, 2021 7:39 AM

A lot of blow will be done in that outdoor dunny (sp?).

by Anonymousreply 21April 16, 2021 7:41 AM

He is not short. Marfan syndrome could be about right. They don’t have to look abnormal.

by Anonymousreply 22April 16, 2021 8:10 AM

He does have quite a long torso.

I'm not sure who this person is, but the house is okay. he seems obsessed with lamps and hugs that the house gives him.

by Anonymousreply 24April 16, 2021 8:14 AM

Soulless, but high-end artistic soulless rather than low-end suburban tract soulless.

by Anonymousreply 25April 16, 2021 8:21 AM

agree r25, the bedrooms have zero personality at all.

by Anonymousreply 26April 16, 2021 8:24 AM

The only thing he has going for him is his clean cock.

by Anonymousreply 27April 16, 2021 8:42 AM

the patio and the fancy windows are a win, though. also, the living room while not to my taste, i could live with. he seems to be very focused on having a comfortable place to sit and lay in most common rooms. i give him a gold star for that.

by Anonymousreply 28April 16, 2021 8:46 AM

I don't find this guy attractive so maybe that's why I also notice his singing talent is almost nonexistent

by Anonymousreply 29April 16, 2021 8:52 AM

It's quite "Michael" of Boys in the Band, isn't it?

by Anonymousreply 30April 16, 2021 8:57 AM

R16, his father's Jewish and his mother is a convert so he does have some genetic diversity.

by Anonymousreply 31April 16, 2021 8:58 AM

In the 90’s after a particularly nasty breakup, to escape the city I moved into room in a Victorian house in Dorchester MA that four other gay guy lived in as well.

The old queen that owned it renovated Victorian era homes for a living- and it was BREATHTAKING with attention paid to the finest details and looked like it fell out of an Anne Rice novel. He’d rescued knobs, fireplaces, blown glass and tin ceilings, intricate woodwork etc. from wealthy people that had no taste and wanted to strip out and modernize their new Victorian homes. The house always took part of the local tour annually and it was always nice to come home to as the walkway and gardens were on point as well.

One day I went into the basement to do laundry and noticed steel bars mounted on the INSIDE of the windows. I came back upstairs and asked one of the roommates, “Is this neighborhood safe?” He replied, “I’ve only been mugged twice, you just have to know where to walk.”

I moved out a few weeks later, the other problem was living with four older blown out gay guys was that they absolutely CONSUMED toilet paper. I would forget and leave my roll in the bathroom and it’d be GONE by end of day!

by Anonymousreply 32April 16, 2021 8:59 AM

Well Troye is young and actually has sex with other young men unlike most posting here, so he probably doesnt want his house looking like an old lady lives there

by Anonymousreply 33April 16, 2021 9:09 AM

[Quote] four older blown out gay guys was that absolutely CONSUMED toilet paper. I would forget and leave my roll in the bathroom and it’d be GONE by end of day!

How... vivid.

by Anonymousreply 34April 16, 2021 9:11 AM

But he lives with his sister, r33.

by Anonymousreply 35April 16, 2021 9:12 AM

i do think it's kind of sweet he lives with his sister.

by Anonymousreply 36April 16, 2021 9:17 AM

I presume he lives with her so that the house isn't unoccupied when he returns to Los Angeles or goes on tour.

by Anonymousreply 37April 16, 2021 9:18 AM

R11 Most Victorian houses in Melbourne have been brutalised.

by Anonymousreply 38April 16, 2021 9:36 AM

All Melbourne houses are Victorian. HaHAH

by Anonymousreply 39April 16, 2021 9:41 AM

This is the current taste which is wonderful - I can’t see him living in high Victorian style.

by Anonymousreply 40April 16, 2021 9:44 AM

“I moved out a few weeks later, the other problem was living with four older blown out gay guys was that they absolutely CONSUMED toilet paper. I would forget and leave my roll in the bathroom and it’d be GONE by end of day!”........ A Scott roll or one from a 99cent 4-pk?

by Anonymousreply 41April 16, 2021 10:20 AM

R23 thank you for that delicious pic, he is so hot/ I looked for pictures of him topless in the past without success

Man after my own heart - I've done something very similar! I used to own a modern apartment, completely soulless inside when I bought it (but spacious and in a great location with secure garaging). I progressively bought lights, fittings and furniture etc to give it a Victorian look - and early in the process bought a chandelier off a couple that were modernising an old villa. Ended up swapping a whole lot of stuff, gave them all the modern handles, lights, etc out of my apartment, swapped it for the Victorian equivalents they had, win win! I'm glad some people still have enough taste to preserve and restore old homes they way they should be, I hate contemporary design but especially in something that should be a characterful period home

by Anonymousreply 42April 16, 2021 12:37 PM

No idea of who he is (and no interest), his house, though, is only vestigially Victorian, and only a house in the last half century. It was built as a handball court in 1869, converted to a brick factory in 1950, and reworked as a residential structure in 1970. There's no lost Victorian domestic character because it never had any. The current owner wouldn't seem to be at blame for destroying something that never was.

[quote]The house in question is a genuine architectural gem. Erected in 1869 as a handball court, the building was converted into a brick factory in 1950 and then subsequently transformed into a residence in 1970 by renowned Australian architect John Mockridge, a fixture on the local art-and-design scene. The conversion is said to be the first adaptive reuse project of its kind in the city.

I like the space, actually, in large part for its garden courtyard setting overlooked by walls of glass, and a curious but seemingly well organized interior with simple kitchen, a couple of bathrooms luxurious in their materials, and a lot of smart decisions — again, nothing to do with a Victorian house because it never was. In principal it's an ideal small house because its a world unto itself with the courtyard: enclosed, private, blurred indoor/outdoor spaces, and rich materials well used in a few places, a good combination of simplicity and some luxury, without a massive kitchen, without a lot of suburban-generated ideas of what a house should have in it.

It's a little browner than I'd like. I suppose all that rolled cork on the ceilings is there for a reason but I would rethink that, but mostly I think its a great space (not great furnishings); I'd put better things in it and better art and that's about it.

Quite true, R29, but those windows were nifty. Great bathrooms too, but the bedrooms could be a hotel.

by Anonymousreply 44April 16, 2021 2:21 PM

He gives bottoms a bad name.

[quote] Does Mr. Rainbow address the fact that his parents left South Africa, the Rainbow Nation, as soon as the black majority took democratic power?

As any South African will tell you, the Jews (as per Silvan’s father) were the first to leave. They could see the writing on the wall. Next were the wealthy whites. Only a Woke fool would seek to score points off someone because their parents left what is doomed to become a dysfunctional nation.

by Anonymousreply 55April 22, 2021 10:04 AM

Is he considered attractive.

by Anonymousreply 56April 22, 2021 2:04 PM

Does a twink have an audience? Yes, dear. He does.

by Anonymousreply 57April 22, 2021 2:15 PM

But the point, R55, is that his parents did see the writing on the wall and that he must have been aware of this when growing up in Australia, which makes his "We are the world" crap just seem mendacious.

by Anonymousreply 58April 22, 2021 2:26 PM

Someone who leaves an environment that is bad for them can't support reform?

by Anonymousreply 59April 22, 2021 2:36 PM

Wait. Is SA a failed state?

by Anonymousreply 60April 22, 2021 2:37 PM

You think he's going to suggest that South Africa needs reform, R59? His fans would flip.

by Anonymousreply 61April 22, 2021 3:18 PM

Can he at least suggest Fro-Yo Store reform?

by Anonymousreply 62April 22, 2021 3:35 PM

Become? Its got there, and some time ago. Only in a few protected enclaves and tourist spots is it safe still. Partner fled there couple of decades ago after being carjacked at gunpoint a time or two and friends of his slaughtered in a home invasion. Dysfunctional doesnt even begin to describe it. Google South African farm murders if you have a strong stomach

You're absolutely right though

by Anonymousreply 63April 22, 2021 3:55 PM

I thought Nelson Mandela transformed SA into a land of lollipops and multicultural startups.

by Anonymousreply 64April 22, 2021 5:03 PM

What if Native Americans were able to run white people form American soil like that...

by Anonymousreply 65April 22, 2021 5:26 PM

This thread has had some twists and turns.

by Anonymousreply 67April 22, 2021 5:39 PM

It’s sad that it’s turned into a bitching session for “oppressed” white people. At least the Afrikaners had somewhere to go...Australia seems to love them.

by Anonymousreply 68April 22, 2021 6:00 PM

There’s a whole North Shore suburb of Sydney that’s former SA. But only wealthy SA. Even middle class SA couldn’t afford Sydney’s prices, what with the exchange rate and what they could get for their existing properties. Most of the older lower middle and working class are just stuck. Anyway... back to TroyBoy. He paid just under AU$4 mil for the housey. Not a bad starter pad for a 25 yr old. But he won’t want to be climbing two flights of stairs to his bedroom in future years.

by Anonymousreply 69April 22, 2021 6:14 PM

He won't stay in Australia. The industry is shit there.

by Anonymousreply 70April 22, 2021 6:20 PM

Troye is nice and he cares a lot about social issues. He is just aware of his privileges and want to use that champion for causes he believes. He isn't an asshole like Elon Musk who definitely comes across as racist.

by Anonymousreply 71April 22, 2021 6:22 PM

What has Musk said or done that could be seen as racist r71?

I understand that his cars are put together like shit.
