Sherlock Season 4 Begins Filming

Get ready, Sherlock fans: Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and the rest of the cast started filming the show's fourth season today. PBS announced the news this morning by posting a brief clip of Mark Gatiss on the Sherlock Facebook page. "It begins... Filming for series 4 is underway! ‪#‎221Back‬," they wrote alongside the clip (below).

In addition to the brief video, PBS and Masterpiece Classic released a statement, teasing fans with a general overview of what's to come. "Sherlock series four—here we go again! Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street, and it always feels like coming home," Steven Moffat, co-creator, writer, and executive producer said. "Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson and terror and tragedy are looming. This is the story we've been telling from the beginning and it's about to reach its climax."

Season 4 will consist of three episodes, and unlike the Victoria-era special episode, will once again be set in modern day London. No word as to when the next season will premiere, but fingers crossed it will be sooner rather than later.
