Taylen went missing after his mother, Pashun Jeffery, was found slain in her apartment on March 30. Taylen’s body was found in an alligator’s mouth near Dell Holmes Park in St. Petersburg a day later.
Taylen Mosley and his mother, Pashun Jeffery, were last seen on March 29 after Jeffery had organized a party for Thomas Mosley’s father Taylen’s 21st birthday.
Later that evening, one of the neighbors heard a noise from Jeffery’s apartment. The same night, the father of a 2-year-old went to the hospital with cuts on his arms and hands.
When Jeffery’s family couldn’t reach her, an apartment staff member went to check on her and found a violent crime scene. Jeffery had been stabbed over 100 times, according to arrest records.
During a news conference on March 31, Pashun Jeffery’s family expressed their worries about Taylen and hoped for his safe return.
The police searched Dell Holmes Park, located about ten blocks from Thomas Mosley’s mother’s House, after they received a report about something in an alligator’s mouth.
The police shot the alligator and found Taylen’s body. Dozens of people attended the funeral of Jeffery and Taylen on April 7, and local leaders, including St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch, sent messages to the family, which were read at the funeral.
“Taylen was a sweet and happy toddler who loved his mother dearly,” Welch wrote. “We stand united.”
According to a recent release from the St. Petersburg Police Department, 2-year-old Taylen Mosley died of drowning after his father, Thomas Mosley, threw him into Lake Maggiore following the murder of his mother, Payshun Jeffery, who was stabbed over 100 times.
The Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the boy’s death cause. After a two-day search, Mosley’s body was found in an alligator’s mouth near Dell Holmes Park in St. Petersburg on March 31.
Thomas Mosley is charged with first-degree murder; to be specific, he is arrested for two counts of first-degree murder for killing Jeffery and their son.
According to an affidavit, the night before Jeffery was found dead, Mosley had gone to his mother’s house with severe lacerations on his hands and arms, possibly caused by a knife attack.
Jeffery’s family found her dead inside her apartment with over 100 apparent cuts and stabs the following day. Mosley was identified as a suspect after a bloody fingerprint and a bloody shoe print with a “Gucci” emblem were discovered at the crime scene.
The 2-year-old child was missing, and an extensive search revealed his intact body in an alligator’s mouth in Dell Holmes Park.
Thomas was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and booked in the Pinellas County Jail, and a bond hearing is scheduled for April 11. The Office of the State Attorney declined to comment when reached by CNN.
